Cataract (Hindi- Safed Motia or Motia Bind) is an opacification or whitening of the clear natural lens. It occurs most frequently with age (usual onset after 5-6 years). It may occur earlier in diabetics and in patients with inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. It can even occur in babies and young children, where it is called congenital cataracts.
